Caroga Lake’s first
firetruck
Training
New Active members must register in a class for certification as a Basic Exterior Firefighter
(BEFO), or Certified First Responder, or EMT, or Fire Police (or equivalent) within 9 months of
being accepted as a member. The new member must have a class leading to one of the above
certifications completed within 1.5 years of being accepted as a member. Many other Fire Matic
classes require BEFO as a prerequisite, so CLVFC requires BEFO as a start to a Fire Matic
concentration. Failure to complete any certification within 1.5 years could be grounds for
dismissal as an Active member.
Ice Rescue Training
Even during the pandemic training is a must. We need to refresh our knowledge on
how to use our equipment effectively. As season change we hold classes in our training
room so we are prepared when events arise.
